Rediscover Main Street
Worry Amazon
Mission: It's not just about shopping
Thinking about Main&Me as just another local shopping and event app misses the point. It’s really a national platform that crowdsources the efforts of thousands of Main Streets to increase the online visibility of every locally-owned business in the country. As Google and other search engines index the growing database of locally-owned business information on the Main&Me network, online shoppers will see more local business results on the first page of their searches, leveling the playing field on which Main Street and online retail giants compete.
The same holds true for all the interactions supported by Main&Me. Every time a photo is shared, or a new product photo and description are added to Main&Me, the visibility of local products, sales and events is enhanced. The more activity on Main&Me, the more authentic the search algorithms will judge the data to be, and the higher the locally-owned business information on Main&Me will be ranked in everyday online searches. By acting together on a nationwide scale, Main&Me cities increase the chances that future shoppers across the country will become aware of local sources for the things they need before defaulting to Amazon. In time, the perceived advantages of shopping locally (immediate availability, ability to try on things in real-time, face-to-face customer service, keeping jobs & money circulating longer in your community) will multiply and bring new generations of shoppers back to Main Street. That’s why we call it a revolution in local shopping.
